Eye Heroes draws to a conculsion

In 2013 at Moorfields Eye Hospital, we committed to combating preventable sight loss. We pioneered the UK’s first child-led public health initiative, empowering all levels of society to prioritise eye tests. Now, nine years later and amidst a global pandemic, we reflect on our journey, sharing key moments, achievements, and lessons. This report reviews our decade-long experience, examining the evolution of the Eye Heroes model to adapt to the post-pandemic world. It is designed for easy reading.

Fighting avoidable sight loss

Eye Heroes is a child-led campaign to fight avoidable sight loss in the uk.

Our volunteers deliver interactive workshops (face to face and online) to train children to become eye health champions and inform others in their families and communities.

At the moment our programme is paused. We will update this page one we restart workshops and volunteer recruitment.

Our fun and interactive workshops…

  • share essential information about eye care

  • boost child confidence

  • include games, videos, role play and more

  • are suitable for children aged 8–12

  • are run by trained volunteers in a fun and memorable way.
